This was the biggest highlight of our first trip to Kauai. You will get the best views of the island and places that are not easy to get to. Seeing the island by air or boat is a must to fully experience it. Fun fact: 90 percent of the island is inaccessible by car.
2. Plan to Go Hiking
Hiking is a very big part of experiencing the beauty of Kauai. There are many trails ranging from easy to difficult for anyone to be able to enjoy. Which brings me to my next tip…
3. Research Hikes Before You Go
You’ll need to make sure the trails are open and secure any permits ahead of time.
4. Bring your Own Snorkel Gear
I’ve said this one before, but having gear with you will save time from trying to find a shop to rent from. There are so many amazing beaches throughout Kauai, that you’ll want to throw on your snorkel gear and jump right in the water to explore.
5. See the Grand Canyon of the Pacific
The Waimea Canyon in west Kauai is a ten mile long canyon that is up to 3,000 feet deep. There are many overlooks throughout the park that provide different views of the canyon. It is an amazing sight and worth the visit!
6. Make Plans to Visit the Pu’u o Kila Lookout
If you decide to go to the Pu’u o Kila Lookout in Waimea Canyon Park to see the Na Pali Coast, be sure to go early before the afternoon clouds roll in. It is worth it to see the view!
Happy Travels!
